Standardisation of product types
Standardisation of product types
As part of the process of organising product data on the Modivo platform, we are introducing a unified system of product types for each category.
On this page, we publish:
- the latest version of the product type file for data verification before adding an offer
- Information about changes in the category tree structure and updates regarding product requirements.
We recommend that you check this section regularly to ensure that the data you enter complies with the current requirements.
How does the new system differ from the old one?
Each product must be assigned to a specific product type in accordance with the list of values assigned to a given category. This list is available as a downloadable file and is the only valid source of correct values.
From 2 March 2026:
- The system will only accept product types that comply with the current file.
- Products with incorrect values will be automatically rejected.
The change applies to all products added after 2 March this year, but we also recommend verifying products that already exist in the offer.
What is the importance of this?
Consistent product types allow customers to search and filter offers more easily, improve the quality of product presentation in listings, and reduce the risk of rejected products and errors in offers.
Before adding new products:
- Download the current product type file from the dedicated help page
- Check whether the selected product type is compatible with the category
- Ensure that you are using the exact value from the file
- Verify the correctness of the data before uploading
Verification of the existing offer (recommended):
- Download the list of added products and review the product types.
- Compare them with the latest version of the file.
- Update products whose type does not match the current list. Pay special attention to products with high sales or constant availability.

How to find the right category in the file?
The file contains product types accepted on MODIVO:
- Column D contains the category path.
- Column F contains acceptable product types for each category with their corresponding codes.
- Column G lists product types accepted for a given category in Polish.
- The following columns contain values in other languages.
When mapping the catalogue, please use only the values contained in the file. For convenience, the file has been divided into four tabs:
- Women
- Men
- Kids
- HOME&DECOR.
Note: The values in column G – product type – are part of the final name displayed on the website, according to the classification shown below.
Full information is available here:
How is the product type created
Using the filter in column G, you may check which category a given product should be assigned to.
For example, the product ‘Skirt’ in the children's categories can only be added to the category: Children/Clothing/Skirts. Additionally, the following product types can also be added to this category:
- Tulle skirt
- Denim skirt
- Pleated skirt
FAQ
What is the reason for introducing standardised product types?
The change will improve the consistency of product data on Modivo, resulting in better presentation of the offer, more effective filtering and searching for products, and a more consistent shopping experience for customers. The main goal of the change is to correctly match products to categories, which directly affects the shopping experience of customers.
The introduction of a standardised system also aims to reduce the number of incorrectly added products and facilitate the selection of appropriate categories and product types when entering offers on Modivo.
This will make the product addition process more predictable, and product data more consistent and easier to manage.
When do the new requirements become effective?
The new requirements apply to products added from 2 March 2026 onwards. Products added from this date must have a type that complies with the current file.
Will products added before this date be affected?
We recommend verifying existing products. In subsequent stages, the system may also automatically reject offers whose product type does not comply with the current requirements.
How do I know which product type to choose?
The current, valid file with product types for individual categories is available for download on the dedicated help page for Partners. This file is a reference point for entering and verifying data.
What happens if I select the wrong product type?
Products with a type that does not comply with the current file will not be accepted by the system. Once the data has been corrected, the product can be re-verified.
Where will further changes be announced?
All updates regarding:
- Changes to the category tree
- Product type updates
- New files for product types to download
will be published on the Marketplace Partner help page.
When adding products, why do I see a list of all product types?
For technical reasons, we are currently unable to set category mappings, but we are working on improving this.
